PLAYGROUND PEACEKEEPERS

Playground Peacekeepers is a new program MES has added to our 1st-3rd grade recesses. Fourth and fifth grade students, who were nominated by their peers as being good problem solvers, have been trained to help the younger students make good choices on the playground. The Peacekeepers remind kids about rules to follow, encouraging playing with someone who needs someone to play with and join in games when they can. The adults who supervise recesses have praised the Peacekeepers for their help preventing problems and the teachers of the Peacekeepers feel their students have taken their added responsibility seriously and the Peacekeepers themselves love the opportunity to serve others.
