Principal Frank Luzaich Accepts Executive Director Position in Lake Oswego
This is the image for the news article titled Principal Frank Luzaich Accepts Executive Director Position in Lake OswegoFrank Luzaich, Molalla Elementary Principal, has been selected to serve as Executive Director of Elementary Programs in the Lake Oswego School District.  In his new role, Mr. Luzaich will be responsible for supervising six elementary schools and the work of principals and teachers serving 2900 children and their families. He will be missed.

Since 2015, I’ve watched the school environment transform physically and culturally at Molalla Elementary, and the adults and children at Molalla Elementary School deserve to beam with pride and confidence.  During Frank’s time in Molalla, the teachers and staff have done exceptional things.  Since 2015, Molalla Elementary School's composite DIBELS data, measuring oral fluency (a critical leading indicator of student reading skills) increased from 36% to 60% at grade level.  Molalla Elementary achievement data on the ODE school report card improved in every indicator. The median growth percentile for MES (vs. comparison schools) moved from 37.0/44.0 to 57.0/59.0 (ELA/Math) in the past two years, and we expect further growth for students in 2017-18 with the installation of a new week-long Kinder Readiness program in August, after-school SBAC skills support classes for strategic learners, before-school enrichment, and a recently launched Chess Club—all of which Frank has encouraged or developed.  Our students deserve to compete in this world as confident, capable learners and friends, and MES delivers on that promise.

We will begin our rigorous search for the next MES principal by speaking first with the MES staff and community about the school and their hopes for the future.   Only good things are ahead for the Molalla Elementary Community as we move forward to recruit and hire the next principal.

Note: The MES parent meeting with Superintendent Tony Mann to discuss the principal search process and to solicit input will be Monday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Molalla Elementary.
