The Oregon Department of Education provides families in Grades 4-5 with individual student reports that detail progress on the new Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC). These new Statewide assessments are scored differently than the former OAKS multiple-choice tests, and the bar was raised. The information on your child’s performance is one indicator of how he/she progressing in school. We’ll continue to look at SBAC results, as well as other measures, to help MES students perform well in 2017-18.
If you have a 4th or 5th grader, look for the report next week, review it, and contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. (Last year’s 5th graders’ reports will be sent home from the middle school because they’re now 6th graders.)
